Salford HC became league champions yesterday with a final battle against Ruislip. Behind for most of the game by 3 goals, Salford never lost focus and carried on fighting to go even with 5 minutes of the match remaining. Ruislip held on for the draw, but Salford was fine with that – 1 point was all that was needed to go clear at the top of the National League!
To win the league with one match to go just shows how far the players at Salford have come this year; beating the strongest teams in the UK, teams that just last year showed so much dominance in the national league. Things are looking positive for next season when Salford will compete in Europe and the league structure is changed into a Super 8 competition.
